I am a theater sound designer, experimental artist, and performer.

My sonic explorations leave no stone unturned–objects, instruments, pet chickens that play instruments (and sure, leaves and stones) all have a place in my electroacoustic palette.

I use equal parts impulse and intention to craft layered sonic and visual performances solidly rooted in the best kind of dramaturgy–that which allows space for the things we can’t define. These performances pose questions about consumption, animal exploitation, and vicious heteronormative cycles and have been described as “funny, but also not.”

I learned early that there are no mistakes in art.  You can make something out of anything, and the world of self expression is much too big to let tradition limit your curiosities.  I saw later that the definitions of music and composition are vast, and now I can’t unsee this.

You’ll find me hanging around after your show, waiting to ask my favorite question: How did you do that?!

Gianna Agostino (She/Her) is a sound designer with an M.F.A. in Design and Technology from The University of Missouri Kansas City. She was introduced to her craft when she began to combine her background in cello performance and mass media communications. Gianna believes that the art of storytelling is key to creating a more empathetic world by inspiring meaningful discourse and fostering collaboration. She quickly discovered just how effective music and sound are for shaping narratives, engaging audiences, and creating emotional resonance.

Her focus is on utilizing emerging technologies to create efficient and impactful storytelling through original musical scores and soundscapes that blur the line between music and noise while creating uniquely immersive experiences that stick with audiences long after the viewing. Whether it's live theatre, podcasts, music, or films, Gianna uses her keen musical ear and technical knowledge to create compelling and new sonic experiences.

Nick DePinto is a Sound Designer and Engineer. He has an MFA in Sound Design from California Institute of the Arts and a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. Nick thrives in scenarios where sound can shine through with emotion and clarity. While he is experienced in many forms of theatre, his primary interest is in musicals. As an engineer on musicals, Nick has found he can affect the live performance in a more immediate way while still utilizing design principles. In effect, the engineer becomes a member of the ensemble: a performer in the production. Nick has worked as a Sound Designer and Engineer with theatres nationwide, including: Musical Theatre West, California Theatre of the Performing Arts, Rogue Machine Theatre, LA Opera, and more (Los Angeles); Pittsburgh Public Theater, PICT Classic Theatre, and more (Pittsburgh); Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre (Colorado); and St. Michael’s Playhouse (Vermont). www.nickdepinto.com.

My practice and pedagogy center on a mission: creating connectivity.

Inspired by technical connectivity, I use concepts of curiosity, community and cognitive science to bring people together around new ideas, stories, and sensory experiences.

I’ve built this mission over a decade-plus career in corporate, nonprofit, and academic audiovisual and theatre tech and design, and I defined my practice in my MFA thesis Creative Connectivity (UC San Diego ’24).

Prior academic service includes Williams College, James Madison, and Bridgewater College. Other employers include Jacob’s Pillow, Shakespeare and Company, Totempole Playhouse and JAG Productions.

Collaboration highlights include 2023 dance work Is It Thursday Yet? (Associate Sound/Video), 2017 Capital Fringe play This Too Comes by Hard (Sound/Composition), 2023's KAHNOP, a performance event for the premiere of the Anne Hamilton work of the same name (Associate Sound/Lighting), and A(m)I(?) — my own 2024 immersive multimedia piece, inspired by Frankenstein.
