Ben Nabinger is a costume designer and illustrator for theater, film and television originally from Baltimore, now living and working in Los Angeles. After earning his BA in Theatre from UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) then designing and stitching for theaters in Maryland, Florida, and Kentucky, he began studying costume design for film and television at UCLA. During his 3 years there, he worked to bring focus and clarity to his designs while developing his skills in costume construction and illustration. As an artist, Ben’s inspiration comes from an intersection of collaboration, exploration, and spontaneity. With these tools, he aims his career towards creating those rare, overwhelming, and euphoric seconds that turn entertainment into formative experiences.

Brittani Beresford is a visual artist and costume designer. She received her BA in Theater and Film at Rutgers University. This year she will be graduating with an MFA in Design and Technical Production from Brooklyn College City University of New York. During her time there she worked as a Theater Technician in the costume shop  and as an Adjunct Professor in costume design. Brittani is a current mentee at Wingspace under the costume design program.

Brittani’s work reflects her interest in exploring worlds which have abstract concepts as well as believing in the importance of activism through storytelling and shining a light on untold stories. She aims to uplift voices through design, imagination and careful exploration.

David Arevalo (he/him/his) is a Texas born, Chicago based, Mexican, costume designer, maker, and artist. He is compelled to showcase the stories and experiences of communities that have found themselves underserved by the American artistic canon. The transformation and elevation of ideas, objects, and expectations is central to his practice.

Emma George is a recent MFA graduate from Boston University, and has been designing costumes since the age of 4, coordinating looks for plays and other spectacles starring her and her two younger sisters, mainly using cloth napkins and tea towels. Since then, her childhood instinct for how fabric can bring characters to life has grown into a deep passion for telling stories of the human experience through clothing. Her work has taken her to New York City, Pittsburgh, Savannah, Atlanta, and Boston working in theatre, dance, and film and television as a costume designer, stitcher, and wig and makeup artist. She is passionate about ensuring that her work supports voices that have gone unheard, and gives further definition and life to even the smallest parts of a story. Past productions at BU include Shakespeare in Love, Lorena (Boston Playwright’s Theatre), Mansfield Park (Opera Institute) and Photograph 51.

Gabe Bagdazian (they/them/theirs) is a California native Armenian-American designer who has been living and studying in Boston since 2019. They are passionate about the depth of storytelling that is possible through costume design, and specifically about telling stories that highlight the queer experience. It is their firm belief that by elevating the voices of historically marginalized voices in all aspects of theater, we will be able to breathe new life into the theatrical arts.

Gabe’s design credits at Boston University include The Legend of Georgia McBride (2022), A Dream Play (2021), and Little Row Boat (2020). Additional BU credits include A Rake’s Progress (2020 - Crafts Lead), and Kamioroshi: the Descent of the Gods (2019 - Assistant Costume Designer). Outside of BU, Gabe has worked with several professional and collegiate companies, including New England Conservatory (2022), Boston Early Music Festival (2021), College Light Opera Company (2021), Unity Theater Collective (2019), Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival (2018), and Rubicon Theater Company (2017).

Gabe currently holds BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, and AA in Fine Art and Theater from Ventura College, and is an MFA candidate in Costume Design at Boston University.

Hsiao-Wei Chen is an Austin and Taiwan based visual storyteller, scenographer, and artist. She is known for her diverse skill and broad aesthetic in design of creating both environment and character. Hsiao-Wei is excellence in cooperation, communication, and creative thinking. Her works include film, music video, theatre, opera, musical to dance and is eager to explore more different media storytelling formats. Hsiao-Wei holds a B.A. in Drama and Theatre from National Taiwan University and is about to finish her M.F.A. with focus on costume and scenic design from the University of Texas at Austin this May.

I am a designer and illustrator trained in both fashion and costume. I attended OTIS College of Art and Design with a focus in Fashion Design for my Bachelor’s, and am currently completing my Master’s at UCLA with an emphasis in Costume Design. 

My core strength and inspiration for my work comes from the excitement to experiment with new styles, techniques, and mediums - It is this fascination with experimenting and growth that inspires me to create as an artist.

Over the years I have designed for brands and designers such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Eddie Bauer, Urban Outfitters, and Bob Mackie. I have also accrued experience working with various directors and design teams in theater, film, and tv. I believe that this variety of work experiences has really helped to shape my ability to work with others in a team environment.

Meeka graduated with honors from Western Michigan University with a B.F.A in Design and Technical Production, emphasizing in Costume Design and Crafts. Recently Meeka has worked in New York City both as a milliner for Arnold S. Levine Inc, and a crafts artisan for Mio Design NYC. Recent credits include Diary of Anne Frank (Farmer's Alley Theatre), Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol (Emerson Colonial Theatre, assistant for Linda Roethke), Top Girls (Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, co-design with Raquel Adorno), Fun Home (Northwestern University), Tomás and the Library Lady (NU) and most recently, The Ballad of Mu Lan (NU). Meeka is a graduating fourth-year MFA in Stage Design candidate at Northwestern University.

Mumbi O’Brien is a Visual Artist and Designer with a passion for storytelling. Starting at art magnet schools from the age of 9, she went on to pursue a degree in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, selecting the major for its interdisciplinary emphasis. Once there, she developed a Performance and Installation-based focus, inspired by artists such as Nick Cave and the rituals of the Winiama people in Burkina Faso.

Mumbi’s incorporation of extensive costume elements in her work led her to pursue costume and styling upon graduation. Her styling work has been featured in publications such as i-D, L’Officiel & Marie Claire, and her costume design work has been displayed at film festivals such as Sundance and Berlinale.

Now in her third and final year pursuing a Masters in Costume Design at UCLA, she feels uniquely situated to combine her newly gained skills in large-scale, production team management with her sculptural artistry and resourcefulness, in order to advance marginalized narratives and perspectives that offer mirrored critiques of society and reimagine brighter futures.

Court Rogers is a MFA Costume Designer who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin this May. She is a holistic artist who has a background in comics and illustration and a love for children's literature and TYA. Daniella Toscano is a costume designer and visual artist with an MFA in Costume Design from the University of California, San Diego. She hails from Las Vegas, Nevada where she received her BA in Studio Art and Theater at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Alongside costume design projects, she’s also worked extensively in costume shops around the country in a variety of roles from stitcher to designer, and has explored and developed skills in multimedia design as a way to further explore theatrical storytelling in the digital landscape. Trustin Adams (they/them) is a Costume Designer, Director, and Artisan with a passion for storytelling. Their recent design work includes Cosi fan tutte (UMKC Conservatory dir. Mo Zhou), Children of Eden Jr. (Spinning Tree Theatre dir. Nedra Dixon), Everybody (UMKC Theatre dir. Kenneth Martin), and Peter and the Starcatcher (Ethington Theatre dir. Michael Kary). Trustin is currently attending the University of Missouri – Kansas City as a Costume Design and Technology 2022 candidate. Prior to attending UMKC they received their BA in Theatre and Drama from Grand Canyon University. Trustin will be moving to Los Angeles, California this coming August to pursue opportunities in film, television, and theatre. Future aspirations for Trustin include the pursuit of design, directing, and performance. They hope to one day work as an artistic director and producer who promotes diversity, inclusion, and representation throughout the arts.

Jessica Hill is a MFA Candidate in Costume Technology at Penn State who just finished her thesis “Runway to Reality” where she focused on couture fashion looks from selected designers. Her research includes incorporating technology into garment construction and hopes to continue pursuing new technology as it becomes available. Aside from technological advancement Jessica uses her background as a crafts artisan to inform her draping and patternmaking - exploring both structural and organic pieces.

Tyler Phillips is a theatrical tailor and draper.  Tyler recently completed his Master of Fine Arts in costume production at The Pennsylvania State University School of Theatre. His research is centered around tailoring in history. His masters thesis focuses on tailoring for women in the late 19th and early 20th century. For this thesis he examined the 1890s, the early 1920s, and the 1940s respectively. The second focus of his thesis was to explore a new program, Clo3D. This program was developed for the fashion industry, and in his thesis Tyler explored its application in drafting a period woman’s suit. Recent productions include Brigadoon and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Penn State, where he worked as a draper, and The Wild Party also at Penn State, where he was the tailor.
