Alyssa Ridder is a costume designer graduating with an M.F.A from The Pennsylvania State University. She has designed costumes for theatre in and around Portland, OR and most recently worked at The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY.

Alyssa has published work in The Theatre Times, Prompt, and the peer-reviewed journal Performing Ethos, and presented scholarship at The Graduate Exhibition and the Mid-America Theatre Conference. In Spring 2021 she was awarded a grant by PSU’s Studio of Sustainability and Social Action to produce a short documentary on sustainable garment production. Alyssa received her B.A. in Theatre Design and Technology from George Fox University where she later served as a costume designer, costume shop manager, and adjunct faculty member.

Alyssa’s latest research involves integrating theatre with 3D workflows and is currently pursuing work in costume design for both the digital stage and for live theatre in Denver, CO.

Devon Horn is a costume designer whose career interests span multiple genres of entertainment. Prior to beginning her masters at UCLA, she received a BFA in both Fine Art and Theatre from Pomona College, studied textile design at the Universität Wien, and completed an apprenticeship at Opernfest Berlin. The past three years at UCLA have afforded her the opportunity to expand into the world of film and television. She has designed several shorts and a feature, Dramarama, which has been recognized at film festivals around the world. Devon received the Swarovski Shooting Star Award for Excellence in Costume Design in 2020. She is currently designing a virtual production of HAIR, and has taken this year to expand her knowledge of digital technologies. Upon graduating in June, she plans on moving to NYC to continue her career in design for stage, screen, and any other formats that come her way.

Guan Lee is a versatile costume designer whose work includes theater, dance, concert, and independent film. Guan most recently works are the best of everything, directed by Valerie Curtis-Newton. A midsummer’s night’s dream directed by Scott Kaiser.

Guan’s mom owns a dance company, her grandfather is a scenic designer, grandmother is a costume designer. 

Guan began sewing at a young age, and was admitted by art school, majoring in watercolor for her whole student life. She received old school art training growing up and attended the most prestigious art university in Taiwan. 

Guan is known for having long term collaboration with celebrated troupes in Taiwan. As the member of the Taiwanese representative dance group, Ou Yang Hui Chen Art Dance Company, Guan traveled as the costume designer for designing dancers’ costumes in France, Hungary, Japan, and in many other countries as well.

Jessica Moreno Caycho is an abolitionist, artist, poet, small business owner, herbalist, and uses all of that to intersect with their costume design and advocacy. During their time in Seattle they have also done work with Surge Reproductive Justice, La Resistencia, and UW Black Lives Matter. Simultaneously, they designed costumes for; An Accidental Death of an Anarchist, LOPSided: Shine, The Women of Lockerbie, Three Sisters, Sunset Baby, and Body Awareness. Jessica is originally from Lima, Peru and migrated to the US at the age of eight. They earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Costume Design from the University of Washington and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre from VCUArts.

Jordan New is a Costume Designer and Artisan from Atlanta, Georgia. She just received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri Kansas City and previously graduated Magna Cum Laude from Troy University with her BS in theatre. She has most recently  designed “Blood Wedding” (UMKC), “Master Harold and the Boys” (Kansas City Actors Theatre), and “Secret Soldiers: Heroines in Disguise “(Coterie Children’s Theatre). Summers for Jordan include working at regional theatres including Utah Shakespeare Festival, and  in her free time she enjoys painting, hiking, and gardening. She will be returning to the Atlanta area this summer to begin working as a freelance designer and artist.

Keren Rosenthal is a Los Angeles based costume designer working in film/tv and theater. She recently completed work on Everybody (a virtual play), The Last Living Gun, and a variety of short films at UCLA. Her other previous experience includes film, regional theater, and community theater. Keren will be graduating with her MFA in Costume Design at UCLA in June 2021. She is open to travel and new experiences.

Kevin Hutchins is a Costume Designer from Boston, MA and will be receiving his MFA in Costume Design from Boston University this spring. Kevin’s professional design credits include Swan Lake in Blue (Greater Boston Stage Company), Make Way for Ducklings (Wheelock Family Theater), The Book Club Play (Boston Playwright’s Theater), and The Wizard of Oz (CIC Theater Company). His educational credits at Boston University include Anyone Can Whistle, Horizon Line, and Angels in America.

Kevin moved from New Jersey to Boston to get his BFA in Musical Theater Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. After performing professionally for a few years he decided to transition to the world of costumes, hoping to bring a fresh perspective from his experience on stage. Kevin’s theatrical passions revolve around children’s theater and theater that facilitates family engagement, which stems from him being a founding member of a major children’s theater. Collaboration, taking care of and inspiring performers, and making sure every design tells a full story are the major driving forces for Kevin as a designer.

Lindsey Rae is a Costume Design MFA graduate from the University Texas at Austin’s Live Design program. While at the University of Texas as Austin, she had the opportunity to design costumes for the main stage productions Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet, Year of the Tiger, Cohn New Works Festivals’ XOR, and many dance collaborations. She has worked at theaters across the west including The Phoenix Theater Company, Arizona Broadway, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and the Utah Festival of Opera and Musical Theatre. Lindsey has a love for fashion as well as costume design and has a distinct interest in western wear. Her thesis involved designing and creating a Nudie style western suit for Dan Hardick, the frontman of Austin’s Western swing band FingerPistol.

Maggie Colvin (she/her) is a Los Angeles based costume designer working in film and theatre. She is currently enrolled at UCLA as a graduate student in Costume Design and will complete her studies this June. She has always had a passion for storytelling, giving a voice to others, and is a firm believer in the power of costumes to do so. She recently completed work on a virtual production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and is currently prepping for a series of short magical realism films. Maggie also holds a BFA in both Theatre and Entertainment Media Studies from the University of Georgia.

Designer, educator, and theatre artist, Martin Sanchez has recently relocated to Seattle from Texas to complete his MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Washington. As a Latinx educator in the Texas public school system for thirteen years, he is often inspired by the diverse tapestry of culture, magic realism, and nature. Martin is a past recipient of the Marvin Sims Foundation to study at the Kennedy Center Design Intensive (KCACTF); was awarded the Artist Foundation Grant for Costume Design from the San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs, and has received the Dallas Theatre Center “Project Discovery Grant” for his students for the past five years. Martin is eager to return to his home in Dallas, where he can spend time with his husband, and two fur daughters, Marley and June.

Ryan Goodwin is a Boston artist finishing his MFA in Costume Design at Boston University. His heart is in the performing arts because of the magic that can be created when a group of people experience stories together, and he wanted to be a part of that chemistry. As a designer, he is inspired by new works that lend themselves to imaginative interpretations; that ignite questions and self-contemplation. With experience in theatre, opera, and film, he embraces the clarity that costumes can provide for performers and audience. He loves incorporating fine and quirky details that bring out the nuances of a character.

Saloni Mahajan is an international Costume Designer and Fashion Stylist. Born and brought up in India, she finished her undergraduate education in Fashion Styling and Image Design from Pearl Academy, New Delhi. During those years, she was also a part of several Bollywood feature films, which shifted her interest from fashion to character-based work that Cinema requires. 

Her persuasion to learn and be trained as a professional Costume Designer led her to the University of California, Los Angeles, to receive a Master of Fine Arts. Currently, Saloni is based in Los Angeles and will graduate from the program in June. While her focus is on Cinema, she also has experience designing for different genres of entertainment- theatre, dance, commercials, and music videos. Her interest also lies in exploring the relationship between performance, culture, technology, and science. During the pandemic, her collaboration with UCLA’s  Theater, Film, and Television and Henry Samueli School of Engineering under UCLA Center of Research in Engineering, Media & Performance successfully produced costumes for augmented reality and immersive theater project. 

In the future, Saloni hopes to be challenged locally and internationally in a creative field that increasingly fosters compelling and culturally diverse stories yet untold. She is looking forward to meeting you and starting her professional journey as a collaborator and visual storyteller.

KAYLA SPECHT I The University of Missouri-Kansas City

Originally from Vashti, Texas, Kayla Specht is a recent graduate from the University of Missouri, Kansas City where she received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology. Before that she was awarded her BA from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas with honors in Theatre Technology. Her time in Texas offered her valuable experiences such as working with local theaters and the opportunity to spend a summer studying fashion in Florence, Italy.

Some of Kayla’s most recent designs include La Cambiale de Matrimonio (UMKC Conservatory Opera), No Mans Land (Amarillo Little Theatre), as well as costumes for Black Future, a dance performance choreographed by Michael Blake.

When she is not designing Kayla continues to perfect her technics in millinery, painting, and glove making while pursuing her interests in travel and antiquing. She will be spending the 2021 summer as a part of the millinery team at the historic Santa Fe Opera.

Annie Ulrich is a third year MFA candidate at the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from Middlebury College in 2013 with a BA in Theater and Studio Art. After graduating, she worked as the Assistant Shop Manager in the Middlebury College costume shop, as well as doing freelance costume design work. Selected design credits include Chicago, Ragtime, and Vinegar Tom. Additionally, she worked as a First Hand at Pacific Conservatory Theater, and as a costumer on several TV and film projects, including work for Facebook, got milk?, and Walker, Texas Ranger. In 2021, she received the USITT Barbara Matera Award in Costume Making. This summer she will be working as a First Hand at the Santa Fe Opera before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry.

Samantha Cole is a Costume Technician who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She hails from Arkansas where she got her BFA in Design and Technology from Arkansas State University. Samantha moved to Orlando, FL to work at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre where she started as an apprentice and left as First Hand/Lead Stitcher. Samantha has worked as an Onboard Stitcher for Norwegian Cruise Line and as a Costume Specialist at Universal Studios Orlando. Summers have been spent around the country from Shenandoah Summer Musical(2014) to Texas Shakespeare(2015) to Illinois Shakespeare(2017) to Colorado Shakespeare (2019). Samantha love learning new techniques, even those outside of costuming. She hope to work in both film and theatre in the future.
